Corry van Blokland Mobach

Corry Mobach (1929, Amsterdam) started in 1946 at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Drawing. After graduating she started Advertising Design and Photography (now Graphic and Typographic design) at the same Academy. Teachers were among other Munnik, Hos, van de Paardt, Kiljan, Schuitema en de Vries.
Corry graduated in 1952.

Over the years Corry developed in all aspects of the graphic design profession but drawing and illustrating always had a central place in her designs.
Corry made numerous designs and drawings for the Sio toys. She designed and made the drawings for many games like Huisje Boompje Beestje and domino games.
Kom mee naar buiten is a board game made for the 75 years celebration of the NVV, a dutch trade union. Further, she designed for many years the dutch version of Scrabble. She drew backgrounds of toy shops, garages and dollhouses.

Royal award

In 2010 Corry was honoured with a royal decoration.

Corry has for many years -on voluntary basis- given lessons in batik techniques and design.

She teaches, since approximately 25 years a group of women in making bears in traditional techniques, again on voluntary basis.

Further, Corry designed the packaging of toys, including Sio Montage boxes, folders and advertisements in newspapers and magazines. Enlarged drawings by her hand hung in Sio stands in Nuremberg, Germany and in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Making music, playing the flute, Corry has done since childhood. First with recorders in all shapes and sizes but her great love allways has been the flute. The repertoire ranges from Bach to quite modern, alone or duets with a girlfriend or granddaughter. In music she finds energy and inspiration.

Corry van Blokland Mobach has for decades been member of the Board of the Associations for Friends of the Gouda Museum. She designed the newsletter of the Association since 1977 when it started.

In 2010 Corry was awarded with a royal decoration for her work on behalf of the Association Friends of the Museum.
